School Workshops

Meet my son Liam. Every year he was in elementary school I held workshops in the fall when apples were falling from neighbourhood trees and many were ending up in compost piles. My goal was to show the kids the great food we could make from apples available in our community. I showed them how to make applesauce, fruit leather and dried apple slices. The kids were “hands-on” washing their hands and the apples and then putting slices on the trays. Drying workshops are a great topic for young kids as well as for people with disabilities as they can be done in a short time frame and don’t involve stove use.
